These pages are obviously indebted to all those who, in the past or more recently, contributed to the amazing amount of knowledge about the life and the work of Vincent – as he claimed to be named.

For my own part, it is the product of more than twenty years of study. I did my best to take an interest in all the aspects, to bring light in the shadows, to reduce  the amount of “probably”, of hazardous generalizations, of misunderstandings.

None of those who worked on the most studied artist ever – and I am no exception –  was able to avoid blunders on key issues. Research is not synonymous with truth. The common lot, before one hopes to reach it,  is illusions, false trails, errors. The necessary transparent debate will reduce the difference of opinion, however if fraud is prohibited.
